What are modular homes and how are they different from traditional homes?
A modular home is a type of prefabricated building that is completely manufactured in a factory and then transported as a finished product to the location where it will be installed. Modular homes are designed to be moved from one location to another, making them a popular choice for those who want flexibility in terms of building location.
Unlike traditional homes, which are built on site, modular homes are built using a standardized process in a controlled factory environment. This allows for greater efficiency and consistency in the production process.
One of the key differences between modular and traditional houses is the way they are built. Most modular houses are built on a steel frame, while traditional houses are built on a permanent foundation. Additionally, modular homes tend to be smaller and have a more limited range of customization options compared to traditional homes.
Despite these differences, modular homes can still provide a comfortable and functional living space because they are often equipped with the same features as traditional homes, such as full-size appliances, energy-efficient insulation, spacious floor plans, and more.
Advantages and disadvantages of modular houses
Modular homes offer a number of advantages compared to standard homes, but they can also have some disadvantages.
As mentioned in the text above, it is easy to move them to another location. Also, due to the speed with which they can be built and replaced, they are extremely suitable for building camping sites and resorts, and due to their smaller dimensions, they can be installed in difficult-to-access places.
On the other hand, one of the biggest drawbacks can be the decline in value over a certain period. Although modern modular homes are built to high standards, they can still be more susceptible to damage caused by weather conditions.
Accordingly, most companies that manufacture them only provide a few years of warranty on them.
Also, it should be taken into account that individual communities may have strictly regulated areas in which modular homes can be placed.
Radman Homes modular homes
At Radman Homes, we recognized the shortcomings of most modular homes on our market and approached the solution in a slightly different way.
Instead of using a steel frame, our houses have a construction made in CLT technology, which in itself guarantees the durability of modular houses, meeting or even exceeding the standards of traditional construction. Thus, the expected life span of a modular house from the Radman Homes factory is over fifty years .
The houses are constructed in modules, and the maximum module dimensions are LxWxH 650x250x250 cm.
They consist of one, two or three modules up to a total of 50m2, which makes them an excellent choice for wooden holiday homes or prefabricated cottages, but their purpose can also be broad – e.g. office, gym, utility room, etc.
What is important to emphasize is that modules can be added later, as needed, according to your life needs.
