From “we don’t know where to start” to “we would like CLT again”
Simona and her husband didn’t have much experience with construction. They honestly admit that at first they didn’t know the difference between A-frame and CLT construction – until they met the Radman Homes team.
When they got to know and understand the advantages over traditional construction, they decided to build using CLT technology – cross-laminated timber. The precisely designed load-bearing timber elements are prepared and processed in the factory, resulting in elements ready for assembly on site.
“We would choose CLT again. In addition to its excellent thermal characteristics, it also has seismic properties. When the earthquake occurred in Petrinja, the wooden houses remained intact, while the classic ones were destroyed. Although it is a bit more expensive, we didn’t screw up.”
Prefabricated construction as an accelerated pace without skipping steps
One of the things that surprised them the most was how quickly construction can proceed when there is no classic drying, plastering, and waiting phase.
If we had built it the traditional way, we might have only just reached the first ridge. Like this – the prefabricated house was already under the roof.

Time is money: coordination without idle time
Simona and her husband both work in Zagreb. At first, they tried to coordinate the contractors themselves, but they quickly realized that it required an enormous amount of time, knowledge, and presence in the field.
“Floors, knauf, painting, and heating… These are works that must be coordinated. If you have four or more different subcontractors, it is very challenging for the investor to coordinate. And in cooperation with the Radman Homes team, all the craftsmen were in the house – as the craftsman finished the knauf, the ceramicist would start right after, etc.”
They additionally emphasize that their greatest value was precisely this synchronization.
“There was no downtime. Even with our work in Zagreb, everything was going at a good pace.”

Especially when you’re embarking on your first construction project – it’s great if you can rely on one contractor who oversees everything and whom you can trust.
They add: “if you can, and especially if it is combined with a lack of experience, then I think one supplier is the optimal choice.”
